01Our view
A real hardwood wear layer bonded to a cross-laminated core, so wide planks stay flat through a New England winter and over radiant heat. We specify wood alongside the tile and stone around it, so the thresholds, heights and tones are settled before anything is ordered.
02Where it works
- Living and dining rooms
- Bedrooms and studies
- Kitchens, beside stone and tile
- Over radiant heating
- Herringbone and chevron entries
03What to know
- Wear layer
- The top layer of real wood can be sanded and refinished. A thicker wear layer allows more refinishing over the life of the floor.
- Stability
- A cross-laminated core resists the seasonal movement that makes wide solid planks cup and gap. The wood still needs acclimating on site before installation.
- Where wood meets stone
- Wood and tile have different thicknesses and setting beds. We plan the substrate so the two finish flush, with or without a transition profile.
- Moisture
- Concrete slabs and basements are moisture-tested before installation, and the method (glue-down, floating or nailed) is chosen to suit.
At a glance
- Construction
- Real hardwood wear layer on a multi-ply or cross-laminated core
- Formats
- Wide plank, long length, herringbone, chevron
- Finishes
- Oiled, matte lacquer, brushed, smoked, reactive stains
- Installation
- Glue-down, floating or nail-down, chosen to suit the substrate
- Radiant heat
- Suitable with most products; confirm the manufacturer rating
